A Racine man is accused of stealing $20,000 in guitars - including a cherry Gibson valued at $10,000 - to support his drug habit.

RACINE, WI — A Racine man is accused of stealing $20,000 in guitars - including a cherry Gibson valued at $10,000 - to support his drug habit.
Trevor J. Ottum of Racine has been charged with two counts of felony burglary and could face up to 15 years behind bars if he is convicted.
According to his criminal complaint, the father of Ottum's ex-girlfriend called police on June 12, stating that Ottum stole a red and black Gibson guitar from her home valued at $10,000. The guitar had been stored in a case in her closet.

It wasn't too much later before the ex-girlfriend spoke with police, stating that two more guitars, worth $5,000 each, were also stolen, police reported.
When police investigated, they learned that Ottum sold the $10,000 guitar to the Music Center in Kenosha for about $2,400. The guitar was recovered on June 14 and traced to Ottum, police reported.
