Horse Killed In Racine County Car Accident: Report
Police say the collision with the horse forced the driver off the road where she struck some trees.

RACINE COUNTY, WI — Police in Racine County say that a horse died over the weekend after apparently escaping its pen due to a fencing issue, only to get struck and killed by a car.
On Sunday, August at just before 5 a.m., Mount Pleasant Police were dispatched to the 10200 Block of Spring Street on a report of a vehicle that had struck a horse.
It was reported that driver, a 52-year-old Yorkville woman, was bleeding from the head.

Mount Pleasant Police quickly responded and upon arrival, immediately rendered assistance to the woman, who was driving her 2014 Nissan Sentra Sedan west on Spring Street when the horse appeared in the roadway. She struck the animal and it caused her vehicle to lose control. Police say the collision with the horse forced her off the road where she struck some trees.
Authorities say she was treated at the scene and later transported to the Wheaton Ascension Emergency Room for non-life threatening
injuries by the South Shore Fire Department.

Officers upon further Investigation located the deceased animal, a large horse on the south side of Spring Street. The owner of the animal was located and made arrangements to remove and bury the animal. It had apparently escaped due a possible fence issue. The roadway was shut down for a brief period and was later opened.
