'Hostage' Lied About Being Taken
A 34-year-old Union Grove woman is facing several charges after lying about being taken hostage, police say.

UNION GROVE, WI — On Monday around 2 p.m., the Racine County Sheriff's Office responded to a case involving a 34-year-old woman being taken hostage. It turns out she was lying.
Amber Pfeiffer, 34, is alleged to have taken her mother's vehicle on Sunday, Aug. 13, and did not return it. Then, on Monday, she called her mother claiming to being held hostage by drug dealers for a $500 ransom.
Pfeiffer told her mother the drug dealers would allow her to pick the money up. She told police that they "signed her death warrant" and that the drug dealers would "shoot up" her parents' house, a press release said.

She later admitted to police that she had been lying, saying she had spent the past 10 days with her friends in a hotel.
Her charges amount to operating a motor vehicle without owner's consent, attempted theft, disorderly conduct and obstructing an officer.

She is being held on $2,500 bond. She will have a preliminary hearing on Sept. 6.
