Illinois Woman Sped, Drove Drunk In I-94 Work Zone: Report

Authorities said a State Trooper pulled her over for driving 86 miles per hour in the 60 mile-per-hour work zone.

RACINE COUNTY, WI — Authorities in Racine County are continuing to patrol the I-94 north-south construction work zone, and say they arrested an Illinois woman for impaired driving, speeding and having drugs in the car along with two children.

According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, troopers arrested Brittany M. Kirkland, 22, of Chicago.

Authorities say a trooper on patrol stopped her on I-94 near Seven Mile Road Tuesday for driving 86 miles per hour in the 60 mile-per-hour work zone. The trooper reported finding marijuana in the vehicle after a search.

Authorities say Kirkland refused taking standard field sobriety tests, did not have a valid license and was traveling with two children who were less than 16 years old. The State Patrol said the children were picked up by a family member, and that Kirkland cited for speeding, operating without a valid license, drunken driving with passengers 16 years and under, and possession of marijuana.
