K9 Officer Stanley Tracks Down Man Who Stole From Meijer: Cops

OAK CREEK, WI —Police in Oak Creek say Police K9 officer Stanley helped track down a retail theft suspect, who was eventually caught hiding in bushes in his own front yard.

According to Oak Creek police call logs, store management at Meijer called police, saying that a man concealed three Carhartt T-shirts under his sweatshirt and then left the store without paying for them.

The shirts were valued at about $72 together, police said.

Police said an officer spotted the retail theft suspect walking on E. Drexel Ave. When he saw the officer, he ran.

According to police, Oak Creek officers called K9 officer Stanley to the scene to help police track the suspect down. Police said Stanley picked up the suspect's scent.

Police say Stanley led officers to the man's house, where he was found hiding behind some tall bushes in his yard. Police ordered the suspect out of his bushes, and he came out. He was arrested without further incident, police said.
