'Kringle ... The Musical?' To Debut In Racine

Capitalizing on Racine's connection to Kringle culture, the local theater group Over Our Head Players will début "Kringle ... The Musical?"

MOUNT PLEASANT, WI — A sketch comedy about the Danish fruit-filled pastry known as Kringle will début in Racine.

Kringle is the official state pastry of Wisconsin. Racine County is home to several Danish bakeries that make the well-known pastries, and is generally considered the home of the Kringle.

Capitalizing on Racine’s connection to Kringle culture, the local theater group Over Our Head Players will début "Kringle ... The Musical?" this November — an original sketch comedy musical by Managing Artistic Director Rich Smith and Over Our Head Players.

According to the group, the pastry that made Racine famous gets the full Over Our Head Players treatment. “Hear the story of generations of the Kringle-bending Yopansson clan, from Keip to Leif. All the Kringle Ladies are back, too, along with the Oleo Mafia and as many puns, cheap jokes, Racine references, and bakery barbs as can fit into one evening,” according to an Over Our Head Players release.
