Man Charged for the Test Drive That Never Ended

A local auto dealership didn't know what they got themselves into when the buyer of a 1998 Dodge Caravan took it for a test drive, and left.

MOUNT PLEASANT, WI — A local auto dealership didn't know what they got themselves into when the buyer of a 1998 Dodge Caravan took it for a test drive, and never returned.

Stephan Hansen of Milwaukee has been charged with operating a motor vehicle without consent and misdemeanor theft for his role in the January 29 heist.

According to his criminal complaint, a man who worked for the Love Auto Group told police that Hansen responded to an online add for the dodge caravan. The man stated that Hansen arrived in a black vehicle driven by an unidentified person on the morning of January 29 in Mount Pleasant.

The complaint states that Hansen offered to purchase the van and a second vehicle for $1,300 in cash.

When the employee entered a building to present his employer with Hansen's offer, Hansen reportedly fled the scene in the van before receiving any money.
