Man Dies After Car Collides With House: Police

Police say the man was in a dispute with his girlfriend when he drove away, and struck a light pole, stop sign, fire hydrant, and a house.

RACINE, WI — Authorities in Racine are investigating a fatal traffic accident in which they say a man fled police, only to crash into a house.

According to Racine Police, officers responded to a home on the 800 block of Yout Street on Racine's north side for an argument between a man and woman. Police say the two were in a relationship and became embroiled in a dispute.

During the dispute, police say the boyfriend was breaking items in the home only to leave the home at a high rate of speed in his car.

Police reported that this happened just before officers arrived on Yout Street. Officers attempted to follow the man, but could not catch up to him due to his high rate of speed, officers reported.

According to police, officers followed the man's path of travel, only to discover that he struck a light pole on Charles St., as well as a stop sign and a fire hydrant. His car struck a home at 1316 Jones Ave.
