Missing Man Found Encased In Ice Identified: Police

Police say the man fell off an icy bluff near a pathway near Lake Michigan between 10:45 p.m. Sunday and 5 a.m. Monday.

CALEDONIA, WI — Authorities in Racine County have identified the body of a missing man who was found Monday partially encased in ice on the Lake Michigan shoreline.

According to Caledonia Police, the man, who police identified as 59-year-old Christopher Crowell, fell off an icy bluff near a pathway near Lake Michigan between 10:45 p.m. Sunday and 5 a.m. Monday.

According to a WISN 12 report, he lived at the Breakers condominiums and that they had contacted an off-duty police officer from another town to help find him.

The officer found Crowell's body on the ice-covered shoreline in Caledonia on Waters Edge Road. According to multiple reports, authorities had difficulty reaching him because of the icy conditions near th lake. Caledonia Fire was assisted by various Village departments.

The area Crowell was found was along the Lake Michigan shoreline in northern Racine County, just north of Five Mile Road and the Siena Center on the Lake.
