
Early June is the start of free music concerts all over Racine County! Come along with us for these and other weekend activities.
First things first. First Friday is a great place to spend a summer evening. This month's event runs from 4-9 p.m. Friday, June 7 in Downtown Racine. Take a horse drawn carriage ride, enjoy a meal or a beverage and visit the shops and galleries along Main and Sixth streets. There will be live music from Group Therapy at Monument Square, Step 9 at Main Street's Crosswalk Park, and The Blues Cartel at Paul Harris Park on 6th Street (near the roundabout.) Visit www.firstfridaysracine.com. This Friday is also the first free Music on the Monument concert from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Monument Square. Final Approach performs classic rock hits.
Weekend starts Thursday. Waterford River Rhythms gets under way at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Village Hall Park, 123 N. River St. (along the beautiful Fox River.) Bring your lawn chair and catch the rockin' sounds of Lunch Money Bullies. River Rhythms is on first and third Thursdays of June, July and August. It's all free! Opening concert. The Music & More concert series is set for noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at the air conditioned First Presbyterian Church, 716 College Ave. These weekly concerts, scheduled through Aug. 8, feature a variety of music performed by area artists. The first concert includes the First Presbyterian Choir, Muzika Piano Trio and Frank Suetholz; Allissa Castaneda Trio. The concert is free but donations are welcomed to the Health Care Network, Racine Vocational Ministry and the Hospitality Center at St. Luke's Church. Visit www.firstpresracine.org
Drive - better yet, fly! Antique, classic, hot rod and muscle cars plus airplanes will be at the first Drive-In/Fly-In at John Batten Airport, 3333 N. Green Bay Road, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The event includes the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) Museum, a flight simulator and free airplane rides for youth ages 8 through 17. A $6 pancake breakfast will be served from 7 a.m. to noon both days and lunch will be available on the grounds. The Drive-In/Fly-In is sponsored by EAA Chapter 838. Fun at the beach!. Your team is welcome at the 2013 Beach Sports Network (BSN) Challenge on Friday, June 14 from 12-5 p.m. at North Beach, 100 Kewaunee St. Events include volleyball, watercross, baggo and disc golf. The registration for a team of four is $100 and includes a t-shirt, lunch and ref<span class="_wysihtml5-temp-placeholder"></span>reshments. Space is limited.
