MOUNT PLEASANT, WI — The Aurora Medical Center at 13250 Washington Avenue in Mount Pleasant is now open to patients, Aurora announced in a news release Tuesday.

The facility includes a medical office building plus a hospital with an emergency department, intensive care unit and operating rooms. The 198,000 square foot hospital has 60 patient beds, 12 intensive care unit beds and five operating rooms, while the 98,000 square foot medical office building will house 24 specialty providers in orthopedics, obstetrics, gynecology, cardiology, sports medicine and rehab services, according to the news release.

“After three years of planning and construction, and working closely with our community, we are pleased to open our doors to patients at this beautiful new medical center,” said Lisa Just, President of Aurora Medical Center-Mount Pleasant and South Wisconsin patient service area. “Aurora Mount Pleasant brings expert, quality care closer to home, and fills a vital need in the rapidly growing Racine/Kenosha counties and across south Wisconsin and northern Illinois.”

The medical center features "self-rooming" technology which allows patients to bypass the waiting room. The system assigns patients a private exam room where they wait until their doctor is ready, decreasing exposure to illness and increasing privacy, the news release says. a

The facility will be seeking a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Silver certification, "keeping in line with Advocate Aurora's commitment to power its health care operations with 100 percent renewable electricity by 2030," the news release said.
