New Coffee Shop on Racine's South Side Opens Monday
Training Grounds is no ordinary coffee shop. Officials say it will help young adults build job skills.

RACINE – A new coffee shop is coming to Racine's south side starting Monday.
With a ribbon-cutting ceremony on October 3, 2016 at 10 am, Racine County Workforce Solutions will launch Training Grounds, a coffee shop that will provide training and employment to young adults with limited job skills.
Training Grounds is located in the first floor lobby of the north entrance of Racine County Dennis Kornwolf Service Center, 1717 Taylor Ave, Racine.

Developed in partnership with The Grind, a locally owned, independent cafe founded by Steve and Lisa Novak in July 2010, the Training Grounds will serve coffee, tea, smoothies and baked goods.
“Training Grounds is an innovative opportunity for young adults to develop soft and hard
job skills that will prepare them to transition to full-time employment,” said Hope Otto,
Racine County Director of Human Services. Training Grounds will employ 4 to 6 part-time Baristas who prepare specialty beverages. The Baristas will participate in an
ongoing training program that includes customer service and soft skills training.
