Update: Man Jumped in Front of Moving Semi on I-43

Authorities are saying a fatal accident on I-43 late Sunday night involved a man jumping out in front of a moving semi truck. Details:

RACINE COUNTY, WI — One person is dead after a crash on I-41 Northbound near the Racine-Milwaukee County line late Sunday night, and authorities are saying a man jumped in front of a moving semi-truck.

According to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's office, late Sunday evening at about 9:40 p.m., sheriff’s deputies responded to a crash on I-94 northbound near the Racine County line. Witnesses indicated a pedestrian was struck after the man suddenly jumped directly in front of a semi-truck. A vehicle traveling behind the truck also struck the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

All northbound traffic was diverted off the freeway during the crash investigation, and reopened at 4:00 a.m.

The man’s identity has not yet been confirmed. The fatal crash remains under investigation by the Criminal Investigation and Patrol division

According to authorities, all lanes were temporarily blocked at 7 1/2 Mile Road just south of Oak Creek, according to the Department of Transportation.

The accident, which took place just prior to 9:45 p.m. was under investigation late Sunday into early Monday morning as the Medical Examiner was called out to the scene.
