'Oregon Trail, The Play' To Open At Sixth Street Theatre

Oregon Trail, The Play takes the popular 1980s video game and turns it into real life on the stage. Here's how to book a show time:

RACINE, WI — If you grew up in the 1980s, chances are your early exposure to computers was the Apple II models that populated many schools of that era.

And straight from that dot-matrix-and-green-screen era, Over Our Head Players is staging a play that hearkened back to one of the most popular games played on those Apple II computers: Oregon Trail.

“Oregon Trail: The Play!” by was written by A. J. Allegra. Diane Carlson of Over Our Head Players said it's a comedy skewering not only the beloved video game from the 1980s and 90s, but also American history: "In the year eighteen somethin’ somethin’, the Bootsmeyer family sets off on a troubled journey westward, stocking up on provisions for their oxen and doing their best to survive river crossings, illnesses, hunting, highway robbery, and a host of other dilemmas," she wrote.
