Bob: A Life in Five Acts

Bob: A Life In Five Acts follows Bob’s highly unusual life and quest to become a Great Man, in five fast-paced acts. Born and abandoned in a White Castle restroom, Bob energetically embarks on an epic journey across American in a beige Malibu.

He encounters inspiring generosity, crushing hardships, blissful happiness, stunning coincidences, wrong turns, lucky breaks, true love, and heartbreaking loss. Along the way, Bob meets a myriad of fellow countrymen all struggling to find their own place. His life follows a rags-to- riches, fame-to- fall, love- of-living- life tale.

It is a play that explores American mythology and how hard it is to figure out what will make one happy.

Director Brandy Harrell is a long-time OOHPs volunteer. Although she has a theatre degree and is well-known to audiences, this is her first time to helm a full production at Sixth Street Theatre. She describes the show as both “fast-paced” and “absurd.” Harrell elaborates on those descriptions:

“This is an absurd reality. The character of Bob is so genuinely sweet and innocent, audiences will root for him, as his journey through life becomes more and more complicated. That journey involves a number of characters. The Chorus, played by five actors, creates every person that Bob meets in his lifetime – the good and the bad.” With five actors each playing multiple roles, Harrell promises “a fast-paced flurry of characters, costumes, wigs, and voices.”

The Bob: A Life In Five Acts cast features Cody A. Ernest, Nicholas Hoyt, Michael Jachowicz, A.J. Laird, Anne Mollerskov, and Melissa Zeien.
