Peregrine Falcon Cam Shows Chicks; Banding This Week

RACINE COUNTY, WI — Racine County, in partnership with Greg Septon of the Peregrine Falcon Recovery Program, has scheduled the annual banding of peregrine falcon chicks that have hatched on the Racine County Courthouse roof.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says that Peregrine Falcons, a bird species listed as Endangered in Wisconsin, prefer rock ledges on the sides of steep bluffs and ledges on high-rise buildings in urban areas to nest - making the Racine County Courthouse an ideal spot.
Peregrines have been annually hatched at the Racine County Courthouse since about 2001. You can get a sneak preview of the new falcons by checking out the "Falcon Cam."
