Physical Therapy and Rehab Specialists Now Offering Trigger Point Therapy

Physical Therapy a Rehab Specialists (PTRS), a network of locally owned-and-operated private practices serving the Kenosha and Racine areas, is excited to now offer Trigger Point Therapy to better meet our communities’ needs. Individuals seeking to relieve aches, pains and muscle knots are able to choose from two progressive Trigger Point Therapy specializations offered: Precision Neuromuscular Therapy (PNMT) and Dry Needling.

Trigger points are muscle knots that can develop from an overworked muscle or injury. Trigger points can be as small as a grain of rice and create symptoms of weakness, tenderness, discomfort, pain, and spasms.  Trigger Point Therapy is an evidence-based treatment proven to relieve these symptoms, as well as improve energy levels and the immune system. It has also been known to benefit those that suffer from chronic pain conditions such as fibromyalgia.

At PTRS, the therapists work directly with each patient experiencing these symptoms to create an individualized treatment plan based on his or her needs and concerns.  To help with trigger points, our therapists use PNMT, a soft tissue massage technique that restores knotted muscles to their correct length, and Dry Needling, a technique which applies fine needles into a trigger point to release pain and stimulate the healing process. “I am truly excited to bring a new treatment option to those suffering from chronic pain in the Racine and Kenosha communities,” states Sturtevant Clinic Director and Dry Needling Specialist, Jenelle Berce, PT, DPT.

The staff at PTRS prides themselves on providing the best quality care for their patients and is dedicated to continuous improvement and education of additional treatment methods to better meet the needs for all. The therapists understand that each person and situation is unique, and therefore create specific rehabilitation plans based upon each patient’s needs and goals in order to return each patient back to what he or she loves most.  Local Kenosha resident Tim Boyle shares his recent experience: “Jeanette [Kenosha Clinic Director and Therapist] not only helped me with my shoulder, back and sciatica problems, [but] she also made my quality of life a great deal better.  My arthritic pains and discomfort has improved tremendously. I owe her a lot.”

All individuals in the state of Wisconsin have a choice in their rehabilitation care – a referral from a primary physician means any patient can choose his or her preferred therapist.  PTRS is a multi-site physical therapy and sports medicine practice specializing in sports injuries, industrial medicine, orthopedics, prenatal/postnatal, concussion, vestibular and balance, and more.  Start your roadmap to recovery today.
