Plumbing Thieves Caught Early Friday: Officials

Two men who stole plumbing supplies from Southport Heating and Cooling were caught early Friday, officials said.

RACINE COUNTY, WI — Two men were caught in the act as they tried to steal plumbing supplies early Friday morning, officials said.

Just after 4 a.m. on Friday, a Racine County Sheriff’s Deputy was doing a routine patrol of local businesses when he located a suspicious vehicle parked in the parking lot of Hitters Baseball at 2915 W 6 ½ Mile Rd in the Town of Raymond.

When the deputy investigated, he found that a man had just finished stealing plumbing materials from SouthPort Heating and Cooling located at 1343 S 27th St., which is about a mile north. Both businesses are located just west of the I-94 corridor that runs north-south through Racine County.

When questioned by the deputy, the man admitted that there was another person with him but that he had fled when the squad pulled in. A Racine County K9 unit was also on scene and an area search was started.

According to sheriff's officials, the second suspect was arrested a short time later in the bathroom of a local gas station on 7 Mile Rd without further incident. Both men are from the Kenosha area. One of the men was arrested earlier this year by the same deputies when he was caught burglarizing another business in the Town of Yorkville.
