Police Say Body Found In Pond 'Not Suspicious'

MOUNT PLEASANT, WI — Authorities in Mount Pleasant say the person that was found deceased in a pond Sunday morning did not appear suspicious.

On the morning of May 5, Mount Pleasant Police received a request from the Fox Lake Police Department in Illinois to check on the well-being on a person who had not seen or heard from for more than one day.

Police say that cell tower information gathered by officers indicated that the person's cell phone was operating and in the south central area of Mount Pleasant.

Additional information relayed by the person's family to investigating officers indicated the person might have been in Mount Pleasant fishing.

Police say the person's body was removed from the water by the South Shore Fire Dept. It was taken to the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office. An initial investigation into the person's death did not reveal anything suspicious, police said in an official statement.
