Police Shoot, Kill Suspect Who Pointed Weapon At Them: Police

The Wisconsin Department of Justice has confirmed that a police shooting in Racine has resulted in the death of the suspect.

RACINE, WI — The Wisconsin Department of Justice is reporting that Racine police officers shot and killed an armed suspect after he pointed a weapon at officers Wednesday afternoon.

According to Racine police, just after 4 p.m., Racine police officers attempted to pull over a car with no front license plate near the intersection of 14th St. and Villa St. on Racine's south side.

Police say the driver fled on foot to an area about a block away at 14th St. and Park Ave., where he pointed a gun at officers. Police say they open fire on the suspect. Police did not report how many times the suspect was struck.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice issued a release late Wednesday stating that the suspect was transported from the shooting scene while he was still alive, and later died at a nearby hospital as he was treated by paramedics.

Police did not release the identity of the suspect, or his age Wednesday.

Racine Police Sgt. Adam Malacara said The two officers who fired upon the suspect will be placed on administrative duty, and that the shooting will be investigated by the state Department of Criminal Investigation.
