Cory Mason, a candidate for Mayor of Racine, says his campaign has raised more than $91,000 in three months.

RACINE, WI -- Cory Mason, a candidate for Mayor of Racine, says his campaign has raised more than $91,000 in three months.
Mason is one of several candidates lining up to replace outgoing mayor John Dickert. Dickert announced that he will be resigning as Mayor at the end of Sunday, July 16. He accepted a post as the CEO of the Great Lakes St. Lawrence Cities Initiative earlier this year.
Mason will submit his campaign finance report to the Racine City Clerk, which shows all contributions made before July 1st. The report is due at the end of this week.

"I am proud of the strong support that I have received from our community," Mason said. "We have received contributions from all walks of life: from carpenters to CEOs, from firefighters to factory workers, from electricians to educators. Our report will show support from more than 325 individuals and organizations who believe in our campaign for Racine."
"As I talk with people in our community, I hear their concerns about wages and the middle class; about protecting the environment; and about the need for our city to embrace its diversity. I stand ready to take on those challenges," Mason said.

Mason is the state Representative for the 66th Assembly District. He has represented the City of Racine for 11 years in the state Legislature.
Common Council President Dennis Wiser will serve as Acting Mayor immediately following Dickert's resignation. The council is then charged with finding an interim mayor until a special election is held to elect a candidate to serve the remainder of Dickert's term. It is anticipated that the race for mayor will formally begin once the city council calls the election for this fall.
