Racine Woman Accused of Running Drug House with 7 Children Inside

Seven children were located inside the residence at the time of the search warrant. Their ages were: 4, 4, 8, 9, 11, 13 and 15.

RACINE -- Authorities are looking for a 28-year-old Racine woman, who is accused of maintaining a drug house in order to support her family - with seven children living inside.

Racine police executed a search warrant at the residence of Shanicka Harris on the 1600 block of Edgewood Ave. in May 2015. That residence is located on Racine's north side about a block east of Horlick Athletic Field.

According to her criminal complaint, as officers conducted the search warrant, officers made contact with Harris inside. She gave officers a statement indicating she sold cocaine base to support her family.

Seven children were located inside the residence at the time of the search warrant. Their ages were: 4, 4, 8, 9, 11, 13 and 15.

Police say they recovered 15 small knotted baggie corners containing a total of 4.7 grams of cocaine. Officers also recovered marijuana, a pipe and a hookah used to consume marijuana.

According to the complaint, police also found sandwich bags with corners missing (indicative of drugs already having been packaged for resale) located in the bedrooms belonging to the children.

Shanicka Harris has been charged with seven countys of second-degree recklessly endangering safety, possession with intent to deliver cocaine, maintaining a drug trafficking place (second offense), possession of THC, and possession of drug paraphernalia. If convicted of all felony charges against her, Harris faces a maximum of 44 years behind bars.

Harris was scheduled to have her initial appearance in Racine County Circuit Court on Sept. 4, however she failed to appear, according to court records. A warrant for her arrest has been filed.
