A Real-Life Hamburgler: Man Charged After Stealing Nearly $13,000 from McDonalds Over 4 Days
The man was observed carrying deposit bags out of the restaurant supposedly on his way to the bank, but the deposits were never made.

RACINE -- A 28-year-old McDonald's employee has been charged with four counts of theft after police say he stole nearly $13,000 from the restaurant in four days.
Shane Schallert of Cedarburg has been charged with four counts of theft and could face 6 years in prison if convicted on all four charges.
According to his criminal complaint, Schallert was working as an employee at the Waterford McDonald's and was in charge of bringing daily deposits to the Associated Bank during working hours.

Police say Schallert was observed on video footage carrying the deposit bags out of the restaurant supposedly on his way to the bank, but the deposits were never made.
According to the criminal complaint, Schallert was seen altering deposit slips before faxing them to the corporate office on restaurant surveillance footage. Each of the forged deposit slips was missing key information required by the bank.

The four days Schallert is accused of stealing are as follows:
November 15, 2014: $3,376.17
November 22, 2014: $3,362.98
December 7, 2014: $2,818.04
December 12, 2014: $3,281.12
A restitution request was brought to the court by Victim Witness from McEssy Investment Co. on June 30 totaling $12,839.31.
McEssy Investment Co. owns and operates McDonald’s restaurants in Chicago and southeastern Wisconsin.
Schallert is out on a $10,000 signature bond and is due in court on August 3 for his preliminary hearing.
