Registered Sex Offender Arrested on Suspicion of Child Porn, Gun Charges
Sheriff deputies found child porn, firearm in his possession during their search. Suspect was convicted in 2001 on child porn charges.

RACINE COUNTY — A registered sex offender convicted on child pornography charges in 2001 was arrested in Sturtevant late last week after Sheriff's deputies discovered more child pornography and a firearm in his possession while executing a search warrant at his residence.
On Jan. 18, members of the Racine County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Bureau executed a search warrant at the residence of 48-year-old Sturtevant resident Steven C. Christenson.
According to information released by the Racine County Sheriff's office, the search warrant was developed and executed by members of the Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes against Children (ICAC) Unit as part of an ongoing investigation. The ICAC Unit is involved in the investigation of any potential threats or crimes committed against children utilizing the internet.

Investigators took Christenson into custody and he is being held at the Racine County Jail for possession of child pornography and possession of a firearm by a felon. Christenson was conveyed to the Racine County Jail without additional incident.
Christenson was convicted of possession of child pornography in Oct. 2001, and was subsequently placed on Wisconsin's Sex Offender registry, according to records maintained by the Department of Justice online.

Christenson had been charged with first degree sexual assault of a child in addition to three charges of possession of child pornography, however the sexual assault and one child pornography count against him were dismissed in Sept. 2001.
The investigation into this matter is ongoing and no additional information is available at this time.
