Authorities Identify Road Worker Who Died When Struck By Car

A 61-year-old Racine man has died after he was marking utility locations in the median along Highway 31 Monday, police said.

MOUNT PLEASANT, WI -- A Village of Mount Pleasant worker died as a result of his injuries Tuesday after authorities say he was struck by an oncoming car on Highway 31 on Monday.

On Tuesday morning, Mount Pleasant Police say that Daniel Huck, 61, was marking utility locations along the median of Highway 31 near Racine's west side when he was struck by the driver of a vehicle just before 1 p.m. Monday.

According to police, the driver, a 55-year-old from Mount Pleasant later identified by police as Amy Hoecherl, was cooperative when she was questioned by investigators, who determined that alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
