S.C. Johnson Moving Ahead With $50-80 Million Renovation Project

S.C. Johnson is seeking city approval to move ahead with the second phase of their massive Racine headquarters renovation project.

RACINE, WI -- S.C. Johnson appears to be ready to push ahead with a massive $50-80 million renovation of its Racine headquarters as it goes before the city Plan Commission on Wednesday night to seek the permitting it needs to go ahead.

S.C. Johnson initially announced the project back in Nov. 2015. This summer, construction crews razed a two-story building on its Howe St. campus on Racine's South Side.

According to a Milwaukee Business Journal report, the project will modernize a neighboring building by giving it a new facade facing future green space. The company would demolish parts of that existing building to clear land for a more modern addition, the report stated.

None of the renovations are planned to interfere with any of the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed buildings, according to information submitted by S.C. Johnson to the city, according to Plan Commission documents.
