Second I-94 Crash This Week Leaves Man Dead: Report

RACINE COUNTY, WI — Authorities in Racine County are investigating the second serious crash in a stretch of I-94 that happened in less than a week.

The Wisconsin State Patrol is reporting that the driver of a GMC Sierra was heading east on 7 Mile Road and the West Frontage Road of I-94 when it crossed the center line and struck a parked Terex construction crane at just after 8 a.m. on Thursday, May 16.

The driver of the GMC Sierra was not wearing his seat belt and was ejected, authorities said. The driver was then transported to Froedtert Hospital by the Town of Raymond Fire Department, where he was pronounced deceased.

The first accident happened on Tuesday, May 14 when authorities said the 53-year-old driver of a Chevy Tahoe struck a barrier along the median wall, then stuck the a Jeep Grand Cherokee which was occupied by a married couple who were both 76 years old. The Tahoe then crashed into the tanker trailer of the semi.

Officials said the occupants of both sport utility vehicles were transported to local hospitals. The driver of the semi was not injured.
