SEE Your Future Expo Offers Students Opportunities to Explore College and Careers

With Career Academies underway at Case, Park and Horlick, this expo will give 9th-graders an early look at career paths.

RACINE COUNTY -- The Racine Unified School District's fresh focus on student career paths is off to a running start in 2016.

On Tuesday, Oct. 4, Racine Unified School District 9th grade students will get the opportunity to explore more than 100 different careers and learn from area employers at the SEE Your Future Expo held at Sturtevant Sportsplex and Gateway iMet Center.

This fall, Park, Case and Horlick High Schools launched the Academies of Racine. The SEE Your Future Expo is the first step for many students toward deciding a potential Career Pathway they want to explore during their high school career.

During this event, RUSD freshmen will have the opportunity to experience career-related, hands-on demonstrations and engage in activities with area businesses.

“The SEE Your Future Expo will expose our freshmen to careers and employers in our community and the skills, experiences and education that are needed to pursue different opportunities,” said Christopher Neff, Director of Career and Technical Education.

“This is the first of several opportunities students will have to connect what they’re learning in their Academy with the real world and start considering their own Pathway to a successful college or career after high school.”

Students will begin their exploration by visiting different Career Zones to learn more about the products and services provided by these businesses.

The Sturtevant Sportsplex will offer students the chance to meet and discuss with employees from marketing, IT, health services and fine arts careers or business areas.

The Gateway iMet Center will offer students the chance to interact with professional from the manufacturing, construction and engineering fields. All students will visit both sites.
