Sheriff's Deputies Save Woman's Life
The quick actions of a sheriff's deputy saved the life of a woman who was found profusely bleeding late Tuesday.

RACINE COUNTY, WI — The quick actions of a sheriff's deputy saved the life of a woman who was found profusely bleeding late Tuesday.
On Tuesday night just before 11 p.m., Racine County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the 8700 block of Thompson Dr. in Wind Lake for a rescue call.
65 year- old woman, was reportedly bleeding profusely from a medical port in her arm, and first responders needed to act fast to save her life. Wind Lake Fire and Rescue also responded to the scene and took immediate action, authorities say.

Upon arrival, the woman was located in the bathroom. She was conscious, but appeared to be confused
and was still bleeding. First responders reported that there was a substantial amount of blood covering the floor, sink, toilet, and bathtub. A deputy applied a CAT-T tourniquet to the patient’s arm and the bleeding stopped. A CAT-T tourniquet is a fast-acting tourniquet is designed to for urgent deployment.
Like all deputies in Racine County, the one who stopped the woman's bleeding was trained to deploy the tourniquet at a moment's notice. The woman was then transported, by rescue, to St Luke’s Hospital in Milwaukee.

She remains at the hospital, in intensive care, but in stable condition, authorities say. The quick actions of the
deputy, who used his training and equipment, prevented further loss of blood and possibly saved the
patient’s life.
