Summer Theatre Classes at the Racine Theatre Guild Open

New classes include Fractured Fairy Tales, Play in A Day, and Disney's Peter Pan, Jr., but space is limited and courses fill quickly.

RACINE, WI — The Racine Theatre Guild will be offering summer classes for children and adults full of fun and the opportunity to sharpen their acting, singing, and dancing skills. Beginning in June and running through August, classes are taught by instructors trained in all aspects of theatre.

Adult Improv
Ages 16+
Mondays, June 11 - July 16; 6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
This beginner’s course introduces the fundamentals of improvisation. With fun games and exercises, you’ll learn how to think quickly, create characters, use mime-work and build the improvisational scene.

Broadway Bound
Junior Session Ages 6 – 8
July 23 – 27; 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Senior Session Ages 9 - 14
August 13 – 17; 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Students will learn the skills of a “triple threat.” Each class will focus on the performance techniques used in musical theatre – singing, dancing and acting.

Creative Kids
Ages 3 - 4
Tuesdays, June 12 – July 17; 4:30 – 5:15 p.m.
Creative movement plays an integral role in a child’s development. This class
provides an opportunity for the youngest artists to explore the space around
them through rhythm and expression.

Creative Kid Adventures
Age 5
Session 1: July 30 – August 1; 12:30 – 2 p.m.
The Jungle Book
Session 2: August 6 – 8; 12:30 – 2 p.m.
Under the Sea
Join us on an imaginary journey that includes creative movement, stories and
crafts!

Curtain Up!
Ages 13 - 18
August 6 – 10; 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Students explore movement, vocalization, character development,
improvisation and ensemble-building to create unforgettable characters and
stage presence.

Dr. Seuss Dramatics
Ages 8 – 10
July 16 – 20; 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Reading and performance go hand-in- hand as we explore the imaginative
worlds of Dr. Seuss and bring them to life upon the stage!

Fairy Tale Players
Ages 6 – 8
July 9 – 13; 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Learn basic theatre skills through rehearsing and performing a familiar fairy
tale.

Ages 9 – 10
July 9 – 13; 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
Familiar fairy tales get a new twist! Explore how changes in setting and
perspective can reshape an entire story.

Group Voice Mini Camp
Ages 8 – 12
June 18 – 22; 12 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.
No what your singing ability, this class is for you! Students will gain knowledge of how to
condition their vocal instrument and understand the mechanics of the voice.

Incredible Improv!
Junior Session Ages 8 – 12
July 30 - August 3; 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Senior Session Ages 13 – 15
July 16 – July 20; 1 – 4 p.m.
Students will explore their creativity and build confidence through fun games and exercises as
they create characters and scenes “on the spot.”

Kid’s Kamp
Ages 6 - 9
Mon – Thurs, June 18 – 28; 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Learn acting, vocal, and dance techniques. Play theatre games and join in with costume crafts!
Then, be ready to perform a mini-musical!

Never Fear, It’s Shakespeare!
Ages 10 – 14
June 25 - 29; 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.
The work of William Shakespeare comes alive! Explore the poetry and characters of
Shakespeare’s world - from a kid’s eye view!

*New* Play in a Day
Ages 10 – 14
August 20 – 25; 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Performance: Saturday, August 25
In this workshop, students have 24 hours over the course of a week to write, produce and
perform an original play. Do you have what it takes to beat the clock? Join us for a week of
creativity, team-building and fun!

*New* Peter Pan, Jr.
Ages 10 – 17
Mon– Fri, July 23 – August 17; 2 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Public Performances: Fri, August 17 - 6 p.m. & Sat, August 18 - 2 p.m.
Fly away with us on a summer, musical adventure! Young performers will audition for, rehearse
and perform two public performances of Disney’s “Peter Pan, Jr.” on our very own RTG stage!
Actors will be directed by professional educators and directors and practice the skills necessary
to take center stage as a musical theatre performer.
