Vos, Wanggaard Honor Burlington Flood Heroes

From Wisconsin Legislature: Speaker Robin Vos (R-Rochester) and Sen. Van Wanggaard (R-Racine) presented special legislative citations to Burlington Mayor Jeannie Hefty and Love Inc. on Friday honoring them for their response to the 2017 summer floods.

“When our community needed them most, they worked tirelessly to assist individuals, families and the entire community,” said Speaker Vos. “These citations are our way of saying thank you on behalf of our constituents and the state.”

Mayor Hefty demonstrated strong leadership, oversaw response efforts and ensured the safety of Burlington residents. Meantime, Love, Inc. coordinated with area groups to provide the basic life necessities to residents.

While there are countless individuals, businesses and organizations that stepped up during the flooding, the Racine County legislators wanted to give special recognition and show their appreciation to Mayor Hefty and Love, Inc.

“The summer floods of 2017 will go down as one of the most challenging times for our area,” said Sen. Wanggaard. “We are so fortunate that it brought out the best in our community and brought our community together.”
