RACINE COUNTY, WI -- Wisconsin State Senator Van Wanggaard (R-Racine) has been named the Wisconsin Professional Police Association’s Legislator of the Year for the second straight session.

The WPPA represents more than 10,000 current and retired police officers, recognized Wanggaard for his efforts to protect public safety and improve the ability of law enforcement to work effectively.

“Too often, law enforcement is given a bad rap, and criminals are given the benefit of the doubt,” said Wanggaard in a statement to Patch. “I’m proud to see my efforts to change this dynamic be recognized by our men and women in blue.”
