It's spring, and the Peregrine Falcons are in their mating season. They're an endangered species in Wisconsin, and are making a comeback.

RACINE COUNTY, WI — The peregrine falcons are atop the Racine County Courthouse and they are currently in their mating season.
According to Racine County, although the falcons did not migrate, they have been seen throughout the winter chasing away unwanted guests from their nesting box. They have been seen more and more in their home as the days get lighter and warmer.

According to the state Department of Natural Resources, peregrine falcons are sleek, crow-sized birds of prey, famous for their speed and beauty. For hundreds of years, peregrines have been prized for the sport of falconry. Recently, however, they have become well known as a species endangered due to pesticide contamination. These magnificent birds are now making a comeback in many parts of their former range.
Mating season: Late March through May.

Gestation: 29-32 days for egg incubation.
Clutch size: 3-4 eggs.Both the male and female incubate the eggs for about one month. The chicks start to fly in about 42 days, but are still dependent on their parents to learn how to hunt. Peregrine falcons are very territorial during breeding season and will vigorously defend their nests.
