Conditions inside a local pizza place in Kenosha were so bad the city shut the entire place down Friday.

KENOSHA, WI — Conditions inside a local pizza place in Kenosha were so bad the city shut the entire place down Friday.
Slice of NY Pizzeria was shuttered by officials after numerous health code and safety violations.
According to a Kenosha News report, A handwritten message was also posted on the front door reading: “Dear customers, Slice of NY is closed due to family emergency.” The News stated that the owner of the pizza place said the closing had "nothing to do with the city."

Following inspections completed by the Kenosha Fire Department's Fire Prevention bureau and city electrical inspectors on Friday, the city ordered the pizza place Kenosha Slice of NY Pizzeria closed based on the following "fire code and life safety violations:"
The City of Kenosha deemed the building, 5703 Sixth Ave. as an "unsafe structure."

- The electrical panel in the basement was exposed and in an "unsafe state."
- Fire suppression systems for the deep fryers and gas stove were not in alignment with the equipment they intended to serve and has been out of compliance for the last 2 years.
- The compressed gas tangs in the kitchen were loose.
- There were open electrical junction boxes and open wiring throughout the restaurant.
- There was an improper use of extension cords throughout the entire building including major appliances hooked up to them.
According to the city's July 14 inspection report cited in the Kenosha News, "two pans of pre-cooked sausage in a two-door cooler were not dated — the items were later discarded. In addition, there was some evidence of rodents in the kitchen prep area, including feces and a bag of flour with rodent contamination."
