Authorities Identify Woman Who Drove Into Lake Michigan: Report
She could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Racine County Medical Examiner.

RACINE, WI -- Authorities in Racine County say that a 40-year-old woman is dead after her car was driven into Lake Michigan early Sunday morning.
According to a report from the Racine Journal-Times, the woman was identified as 40-year-old Valencia G. Days of Racine, by the Racine County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the Racine County Sheriff's office, at just after 2 a.m., a person called 911 saying that a vehicle had driven into Lake Michigan at the North Beach Oasis, and was floating in the water.

When Racine police officers and sheriff's deputies arrived at the waterfront, officials said strong wind and high waves made tracking down the car impossible.
Sheriff's officials said the Racine County Water Rescue Team was called to the scene, and at just before 7 a.m. Sunday, discovered the woman's vehicle submerged in about eight feet of water near the Fifth Street Boat Launch.

According to authorities, divers were able to gain access to the woman's car, and removed the body of a 40-year-old woman from inside. She could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Racine County Medical Examiner.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident, and have yet to release the name of the deceased pending notification of family members.

Note: An initial version of this story reported that the woman was 30 years old. The Racine County Sheriff's office sent out new information Monday indicating that the woman was 40 years old at the time of her death.
