The deputy took a closer look, and saw that the driver drove her BWM through the commercial driver’s lounge area of the truck stop. The Deputy came upon the accident seconds after it initially occurred, according to reports. Multiple squads were called to assist however it was quickly determined that there were no injuries sustained due to the incident.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Frances C. Hastings, a 47-year-old Racine resident. Hastings told deputies she was maneuvering her vehicle through the parking lot when her sandal became stuck on her gas pedal causing her to drive into the exterior wall of the gas-station. The accident caused significant damage to the building, as well as air-bag deployment in Hastings’ vehicle.
The Deputy’s investigation and subject’s field sobriety testing lead to the arrest of Hastings on suspicion of her second drunk driving offense. At the time of arrest, Hastings’ blood alcohol content was 0.21 which is more than two-and-a-half times the legal limit.
