Police say they dispersed the crowd and got the scene under control, but that they were called back to the same area 25 minutes later on a report that a 13-year-old child had been hit in the head with a bottle.

According to the criminal complaint, the child's aunt learned of the incident and went to talk with Montgomery about it, only to have Montgomery physically assault her, and spray her with pepper spray.

Police say they found Montgomery a day later on Hilker Street with the intent of questioning her about the July 7 incident with the 13-year-old boy and his aunt. Officers told prosecutors that Montgomery began yelling and pulling away from officers. As she did so, an angry crowd formed around the scene, with members of the crowd shouting to let Montgomery go.

According to the criminal complaint, Montgomery initially went limp as officers tried to take her into custody. As officers went to grab her by the arms and legs, police said Montgomery "delivered a kick to [the officer's] genitals with such force that it caused immediate pain to the extent that [the officer] felt nauseous," causing the officer to double over in pain.

Police said officers eventually managed to take Montgomery into custody, but that the could see the transport wagon rocking as a result of Montgomery "kicking and flailing about."

Montgomery is in custody at the Racine County Jail and is due in court on July 18 for her preliminary hearing.
