#1 Muskego Warriors Advance to Rugby Playoffs
Hard-charging Muskego High School team makes short work of Marquette.

In a 40 to 15 win over Marquette High School Friday night, the A Side Muskego High School Warriors Rugby team scored 5 tries in its last match of the regular season.
Now it’s off to the 2011 playoffs, and the club is in it to win it.
However, this is a gentleman’s game, and first the gents from Muskego sat down with their opponents to feast together following the game at Bluhm Park in Muskego.

“There’s nothing that brings boys together like food,” said Gretchen Sindic, rugby mom who spent the afternoon preparing 130 brats for the feast. The after-match dinner is supplied by the host team, with all teams attending.
Rugby is a “hooligan’s game played by gentlemen,” according to Sindic, who explained that “first you fight together, then you feast together. “

No question the fighting was punctuated by grunts and the hard slapping sounds of bodies slamming into each other and the mud-encrusted “pitch,” or field. If the clubs enjoy their feast half as much as they did the game, the evening will be a complete success for the Muskego team coached by Joe Albert and others.
Playoff matches are scheduled for May 10, 16, and 21, 2011. Times and locations will be posted on the Muskego Rugby site at muskegorugby.com.
