A Busload for the Food Pantry

Bay Lane takes on the hunger challenge and hopes to stuff a school bus for the Muskego Food Pantry

Despite a cold windy and wet weekend, Bay Lane Middle School pressed on with their "Stuff the Bus" campaign.  Starting on Friday at the school, and continuing in front of Pick n Save Saturday until 2pm, they are collecting food donations - enough to stuff a school bus, donated by First Student in Muskego.

Organizers said they had collected 1,900 items on Friday, and were hoping to reach their goal of 5,000 items by the end of the drive today.

Admittedly, the weather was not ideal.

"We've been a little slow," said Nancy Dohr, a teacher at the school, "but we're hopeful the weather improves a little because I'm sure it's having an affect on the turnout."

Pick n Save Store Director Bob Arndt also said they were providing packs of items - about 1,300 of them - that average about $3 each for customers to purchase and donate to the pantry, based on a list of requested items.
