Alcohol Involved in Motorcycle-Car Accident

Muskego man was cited for OWI and operating a motorcycle without a valid permit.

Details of a serious accident, which occurred late Friday afternoon near the corner of Woods Road and Parkland Drive between a motorcycle and a car, were made available, and the report indicates that the motorcyclist was impaired.

Muskego man Michael Verburgt, 49, was traveling eastbound on Woods Road around 5 p.m. on Friday when the motorcycle he was driving crossed the centerline, colliding with a car driven by Patricia Zanotelli, 79, of Franklin.  Eyewitnesses stated that Verburgt, who was not wearing a helmet, struck Zanotelli's car on an angle and was thrown from the motorcycle.

Verburgt was flown to Froedtert Lutheran Memorial Hospital by Flight for Life, which initially had to land in an athletic field at Bay Lane Middle School as overhead lines prevented its landing nearer to the accident scene.  Zanotelli was transported to Waukesha Memorial hospital for injuries. At publish time, no further information on Zanotelli's condition was available.
