COME RAIN OR SHINE
Thunderstorms outside, peace found inside Muskego City Hall last Thursday night.
Although the thunderstorm outside last Thursday night (May 2nd) kept some attendees away from the National Day of Prayer event at Muskego City Hall , a great sense of peace was experienced inside.
The commitment of VFW Post 8171 members Dennis Duran, Jim Konkol and John Werderitch to honor us each year with the posting/retiring of colors and leading us in the pledge of allegiance sets the tone for the songs and prayers that follow.
It is an honor to coordinate this event with my husband. It is a blessing to see people attend who have a heart to pray for our nation, its leaders and the community regardless of the weather. As I reviewed the registration slips, I was glad to see that 9 churches were represented, from within and outside of the city of Muskego.

I was blessed to hear from a woman who approached me at the close of the event. She thanked me for hosting the event and apologized for being late, explaining that she came to our event from Milwaukee. She explained that she attends a different event each year and commented that ours was the best one she and her husband had attended!
I know some events are extremely large productions and I must have looked surprised. She then explained the reason for her comment. It is the best in her opinion because our main focus is on prayer. Everyone was given the opportunity to engage in prayer (via small group circles), not just a select few.

My husband and I are blessed by this woman's comment and will keep it in mind as we plan next year's event. As our Pastor Greg Waldoch says, "prayer is hard work" and yes, it truly is! To us, there is no more important work than to pray. As we listen to the news of late, we already see some answers to our prayers.
We hope to see you all at next year's event on May 1, 2014 --- come rain or shine!
