Gone Yesterday, Here Today

Although I may not have the title of Editor, I am still Resident of Muskego, and hope to see the website I helped build thrive.

Because Muskego Patch boasts some of the smartest readers in the land, you no doubt have noticed by the mugshot at the top of the page that I have either undergone a massive transition or am no longer editor of Muskego Patch.

Unfortunately, the latter is true, but I wanted to take a moment to help folks keep their wits about them in the aftermath with a few facts.

  • First of all, and most extraordinarily important, Muskego Patch remains a news site for this community. Period.
  • To those of you who have wrung your hands wondering how your organization/event/announcement will be posted on the site, my answer remains that YOU have that ability to post these things to the site. You ALWAYS have, it's just time to take action and take ownership in this site that has been yours from the day it launched on December 28, 2010.
  • I leave Patch extremely proud of how we got the news out, and in the light of competition out there with far greater resources, we got the news out far sooner than anyone, almost without exception. I want Matt Schroeder to become your new best friend to make sure that still happens because it's the relationships Patch has built here that make it happen. In the meantime, I will try to reach out to many of you that have come to trust Patch through me to help you continue to connect.

Everyone is to be congratulated for creating a site that (as the numbers represent) reaches nearly three-fourth of the population of our little town on a monthly basis.

Keep staying engaged, posting announcements, events and blogs, and reaching out to the editor who has a lot on his plate right now for those really big news stories.

I leave Patch with a host of contacts in the community, and hope that so many of those offers of "if there's anything I can do if you need help" weren't just niceties. I have a strong understanding and 'mastery' of social media, promotions, event planning and of course writing, so I'm darned marketable. Thank you all for your feedback, complimentary and unhinged alike, and your growing pride in this community - it shows, and other communities are envious.

I'll be around....after all this is still my city, and for many years henceforth, this site will always be my baby. Let's take good care of it together. God Bless.
