Spring has finally sprung and what better way to banish the winter blues than with a movie date with the Easter Bunny?

Marcus Theatres is celebrating the season with a “Hop to the Movies Family Spring Event” at Marcus Majestic Cinema in Brookfield on Saturday, March 23.  There will be lots of activities for the kids, including an Easter Egg Hunt and pictures with the guest of honor, Easter Bunny himself.  A fantastic EggStravaganza Buffet will tempt even the pickiest eaters with scrambled eggs, fresh fruit, warm cinnamon rolls, coffee and juice. Following breakfast will be a screening of HOP.

HOP, rated PG, stars the voice of Russell Brand as E.B., a rabbit who would rather be a drummer than succeed his father, Mr. Bunny (Hugh Laurie) as the Easter Bunny. E.B., overwhelmed by the prospect of being THE Easter Bunny (and the hard work of delivering jelly beans and chocolate eggs) defies his father’s orders and runs away from – where else? Easter Island – to pursue his dream of joining a rock and roll band in Hollywood.  Being the concerned father, Mr. Bunny deploys his royal guards, the Pink Berets, to find E.B. If that’s not enough mayhem on Easter Island, Easter Chicks plot a coup d’état against Mr. Bunny and a human named Fred attempts to become the new Easter Bunny. Hilarity and pandemonium ensue until all is right again with Easter.

HOP was an unexpected hit that opened at number one when it was first released and went on to be one of the biggest hits of the year, thanks in part to it’s mix of heart, humor and fun. Since its release a HOP themed game app for the iPhone has been developed, a video game adaptation of the film was released for the Nintendo DS and five books based on the film have been published. The film continues to be a favorite with kids of all ages.
