Muskego Track and Field off to a Fast Start

The Muskego High School boys and girls varsity Track and Field teams look confident as they score points in 15 events during their indoor season opener.

The boys and girls high school Track and Field season started last weekend when they participated in the Milwaukee Lutheran Viking Invitational held at UW-Parkside.  There were definitely some promising performances as the boys placed fifth and the girls placed eighth out of 17 teams. 

The following athletes scored points for the Muskego boys' team:

1st Place--Xavier Jansen-55 meter dash-time of 6.45 seconds   10 points

Xavier currently has the fastest time in the state and is ranked #43 in the nation out over 41,000 athletes who have ran the 55 meter dash this year.

1st Place--Mitch Kwapick, Andrew Salo, Max Tesch, and Zach Matusinec-4x800-time of 8:30.43    10 points

2nd Place--Matt Simono-55 meter intermediate hurdles-time of 8.43   8 points

2nd Place--Xavier Jansen, Neal Slomczewski, Aaron Kopydlowski, Jacob Medved-4x200 relay   8 points

5th Place--Kwapick, Salo, Tesch, and Matusinec-4x400    4 points

7th Place--Nic Blommel-800 meter run         2 points

7th Place--Josh Beeson-55 meter intermediate hurdles      2 points 

A little side note about the girls Track and Field team.  Jerica Kotarak, who took fifth place last year at state, as a freshman in the triple jump and also was in the 4x200 relay, will miss the season due to a fracture suffered while doing gymnastics.  We wish her a speedy recovery and we will miss her awesome performances in the long jump, triple jump and relay events.

The following athletes scored points for the Muskego girls' team: 

1st Place--Leanna Barr, Elle Tadych, Jenna Lederman and           -4x800m relay-time of 10:41.05          10 points

2nd Place--Marissa Wendtland-55 meter low hurdles-time of 9.73    8 points

3rd Place--Georgi Llanas-3200 meter run-time of 12:44.95             6 points

3rd Place (tie)--Johna Radtke-high jump-height of 4-10               5.5 points

4th Place--Jenna Lederman-800 meter run-time of 2:33.66         5 points

5th Place--Kelly Spoerk, Brianna Frey, Anna Egan, Marissa Wendtland                   4x200 meter-time of 1:57.25                                                     4 points

7th Place--Morgan Marek, Barr, Shannon Staral, Hannah Krum-4x400  2 points

8th Place--Shannon Staral-200 meter dash-time of 28.49             1 point

I am missing one name for the 1st place girls 4x800 team.  If anybody knows it or any other corrections please post them.
