Muskego's Pioneer Drive Comes Alive on June 8th.
Come for the Run and stay for the Fun. Muskego's Inaugural Celebration of Present and Past.
A 5k run/walk and a ribbon-cutting ceremony will be part of the celebration to mark the completion of the Pioneer Drive Revitalization Project. These activities will be held on Saturday, June 8 at various locations along Pioneer Drive.
The ribbon-cutting will be held at Veterans Park at 9:45 AM right before the race.
The Muskego Pioneer 5k will start at 10 a.m. on Pioneer Drive near Veterans Park. The scenic course will take runners on Pioneer Drive and through adjacent subdivisions before finishing on the Muskego Recreation Trail in Veterans Park.
“We hope to build awareness to Muskego’s economic history and the potential for future growth,” said Tina Weiss, the Executive Director of the Muskego Chamber of Commerce, who is organizing the race along with Longrun Athletics.
The run/walk is being presented by Muskego Health & Wellness, Animal Doctors Holistic Veterinary Complex and Horn Brothers.
"The integration of holistic health into the lives of pets and their people has long been our mission. The dog walk portion of this event allows us to promote this vision and to further the human-animal bond by donating proceeds to Pets for Vets which facilitates the placement of shelter pets with military veterans, and Dogs on Deployment. We know this will be a heart-warming event in many ways!" Jodie Gruenstern, DVM, CVA and owner of Animal Doctor Holistic Veterinary Complex.

The city hopes the road project will bring Pioneer Drive back to where it once was: one of the hubs of local commerce. In the first half of the 20th century the trolley line came to Muskego and led to many resorts and businesses being located on Pioneer Drive. The road contains a unique mix of business, residential and natural surroundings; all will be on display in the 5k run/walk.
All participants in the 5k will receive a t-shirt and goody bag. Awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers in 5-year age group increments. There will also be a special division for people participating with dogs.
