Pioneer Drive: Ribbon Cutting, Run/Walk, Pets, People and Party
Pioneer Drive, Muskego's historic pathway will be officially opened with a ribbon cutting and jump start celebration of Muskego's past and present.
The historic road will be officially opened with a ribbon cutting and jump start celebration of Muskego’s past and present. People along with some people with their pets will lace up after the celebratory ribbon cutting commemorating the road that started Muskego’s economic development.
A ribbon cutting to celebrate the completion of reconstruction of the historic street will take place on Saturday, June 8 at 9:45 a.m., with a 5K run/ walk and block party to follow. The Muskego Chamber of Commerce along with numerous area businesses is sponsoring the day-long event.
“This jump start to Muskego’s summer is likely to start a new tradition on Pioneer Drive.” said Tina Weiss, Director of the Muskego Chamber of Commerce. “Pioneer Drive with its fresh look, historic value and walkable sidewalks is a perfect setting for this event”.

Runners will race at 10 a.m. starting and ending in Veteran's Park, with walkers to follow shortly after. Awards will be presented later near Horn Brothers (once the main general store for travelers to Muskego Beach) on the North end of Pioneer Drive.
Runners wishing to register online before the race and also view a map of the race route should do so soon to be assured the commemorative T or bandanna for any registered dog. Race registration is $25/runner before June 1; $30 after June 1 and $35 on the day of the race. Teams of 10 or more can take $5 off each runner.

A street party "from Horn Brothers to Horn Field" will be from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m., including musical groups including Thunderbox at Marx Pioneer Inn, food and drink, street bowling, crafts, baby animals, historic tours and wagon rides by the Muskego Historical Society.
In addition, there will be a display of Pioneer Drive history. Pioneer Drive was once the red carpet from the rail line to the resorts on the lake back in the late 1800s and the first half of the 20th century. An unveiling of a historic marker will take place near Horn Field designating this historic rail.
Proceeds will go toward holiday decor along Pioneer Drive for the annual Country Christmas Parade.
Any pet registration will be donated to Pets for Vets and Dogs on Deployment
