CITY MALL: Bankruptcy Attorney Sets Up Shop in Muskego and Online
In a tough economy, an online resource helps users calculate how long it will take to pay off debts, sign up for credit counseling, or review bankruptcy options.
Angela Soltis says she always keeps a box of Kleenex nearby. After handling thousands of bankruptcies in the past 4 years for a Pewaukee firm, the attorney is open for business online and on-site in Muskego – and finds most bankruptcy cases start off emotionally, with clients reaching for a tissue.
Soltis has launched a new web site at http://www.mkebankruptcy.com to help visitors access free credit reports, arrange credit counseling, and answer common questions about filing for bankruptcy.
The website is designed to be interactive, according to Aaron Robertson of Intrepid Innovations, whose online advertising firm created the site for Soltis.

Bankruptcies in Wisconsin dropped 8.4% in the first half of 2011 compared to 2010. Still, more than 14,000 bankruptcies were filed during that half-year, according to an article on JS Online. Local figures quoted by USA Today show 20 Muskego homes are in the process of working through bankruptcy issues during a similar period of time, five in Chapter 13, fifteen in Chapter 7 proceedings.
Soltis said bankruptcy professionals estimate the current pace of bankruptcies will continue for the next two years. Where bankruptcy is concerned, “there’s a social stigma of people living beyond their means,” Soltis said, “that’s actually very rare.”

Instead, Soltis said most people fall behind on debts due to serious illness and medical bills not covered by insurance, housing market issues that put homeowners upside down on their mortgages, divorce or loss of a job.
