County Board Elections Bring Forth Familiar Names

Kert Harenda was a possibility to run for the third aldermanic district, but instead his name is among others for the county board

Redistricting had presented an interesting question for Kert Harenda, whose seat as alderman for the second district technically put him out of his district based on his residence. He had to decide whether to complete his term in 2013, or run in the third district against Neil Borgman.

However, Harenda's name appears as a candidate for the Waukesha County Board, in district 23.  Dan Draeger is currently the supervisor for the district, but he too has become a 'victim' of redistricting, and will vie for the 24th District seat, now held by Peter Gundrum.  Gundrum has also filed his candidacy for the 24th district as an incumbent.

In addition to Harenda, Keith Hammitt, a business owner in Muskego, and Randall Hojnacki, who has also filed papers to run as an alderman for Tracy Snead's district 1 seat, will compete for the 23rd supervisory district.

As there will be three candidates for the 23rd district, a primary election will need to be held on Feb. 21.  The 'presidential preference' and spring election date is April 3.
