What the heck is Foursquare Day?
It’s history’s first great social media holiday. Foursquare is a GPS-based App that lets users “check in” at different businesses or locations. You can earn badges like the “Pizzaioli” for checking in at 20 different pizzerias, and if you frequent the place the most, you become “Mayor.” Users can leave tips and pictures for others to browse, similar to TripAdvisor.
Businesses can post specials (Sauced offers free garlic bread when you check in with 2 friends and a free cookie for leaving a “tip”).
The number 4 squared is 16, hence: 4/16 = Foursquare Day!
