Family history...TMI sometimes.

My family on my mother's side have been in this land since the 1600s. They were of English extraction and came over with one of the many Puritan groups who came to the new land. I love going through the information in the genealogy sites looking for bits of info on my family. One of my descendants by the name of Rood (a Knapp married a Rood). THOMAS ROOD (THOMAS (CAPTAIN) LEA RUDE) was born 1626 in Glastenbury, Somerset, England, and died October 18, 1672 in Norwich, CT. He married SARAH ROOD, daughter of THOMAS ROOD and SARAH LEFFINGWELL. He married  SARAH LEFFINGWELL 1647 in Salem, Mass. Thomas was hung in Connecticut  for incest with his daughter....Wow!! Another person, a Goody Knapp (Goody was short form for goodwife, much as the title "Mrs." is today) Goody Knapp's first name might have been Elizabeth. This lady was hung in Connecticut for the crime of witchery. The case is well documented as well as the story of her body's desecration after the hanging. Also a Nicholas Knapp was arrested for selling a snake oil cure for scurvy!
So my advice is, be careful of what you seek, it might surprise you.
